The ARI-QSFP-40G-ER4 transmits data using four discrete wavelengths—1271 nm, 1291 nm, 1311 nm, and 1331 nm—that combine on a single fiber through an integrated optical multiplexer. This module supports transmission over distances of up to 40 kilometers (km) using standard SMF, by ITU-T G.652 fiber specifications. It complies with the IEEE 802.3bm standard, ensuring compatibility with 40GbE networking equipment and OTN (Optical Transport Network) systems.

This transceiver features a 38-pin edge connector for the CAUI-4 (40G Attachment Unit Interface) electrical interface, providing seamless connectivity with network hardware. The digital diagnostics monitoring interface (DDDI) allows real-time monitoring of conditions such as transmitter bias current, receiver power level, and laser temperature. It follows SFF-8636 specifications, which help in proactive network management.

Designed for efficiency, the ARI-QSFP-40G-ER4 consumes less than 3.5 watts, making it ideal for high-density data center applications.
